Just re-read one of my favorite authors, Rhys Bowen. She writes the tremendously successful Constable Evan Evans mysteries, set in Wales. I'm also a fan of Rhys' Her Royal Spyness books -- hilarious hijinks that feature a young lady amateur sleuth with the grand name of Victoria Georgiana Charlotte Eugenie, daughter of the Duke of Glen Garry and Rannoch. Rhys herself is minor royalty, 40th in line for the throne.

Yesterday I finished writing a movie treatment about a young girl abandoned by her flighty mother, and how it impacts her throughout her life. Sad stuff, and not uncommon in today's world.
